Hey guys!! I wanted to give you guys a fun little update regarding my groups work on our music project!
I have thoroughly enjoyed this entire process of collaborating with my group to brainstorm new ideas and concepts. My group is fairly supportive, open-minded, and creatively independent while still being able to bring their thoughts to the table. We have done independent research on the country genre, as we all had very limited background information and prior knowledge on the genre. I’ve learned about how the country genre has been rooted in certain cultures for years, and means a lot to many people. We researched certain country artists including but not limited to Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan.
I believe that a crucial part of the research we’ve done for our project is learning about how current country stars have built their way to fame. We have also researched the popular record labels to see how they have marketed their artists to become fairly successful. Warner Music Nashville provided us a lot of information about the importance of branding. Sony Music Nashville also inspired us to add certain elements to our project to improve our overall pitch. We have divided the work evenly to make sure we are working efficiently, and this strategy has worked for us! We have also worked with Canva.com to create a more true and advanced media post. By doing this, we are enhancing our project as far as the visual aspects.
This project is a learning experience for us all, and I appreciate how we’ve redirected our perspective of our genre. At first, I was unsure about completing a project of the country genre since I do not listen to country music but I have come to appreciate it. However, it was quite challenging researching the different artists and trying to understand the best way to brand our artist without it being too cliché or basic. We really had to research and delve deep into different possibilities to create meaningful research. I am very excited to continue our research because we have planned the rest of our project. The storyboard assisted us in developing a rough draft of how we want to portray our music video, and we want to make our vision come true. We have set days to record and film, which is thrilling. After we film, we will edit and add to our presentation.
To close out this update, I wanted to share a rather ironic but meaningful quote not only to the country community, but to this project. I came into this project not being a huge fan of country, but I can appreciate the genre and there are some songs that I will gladly plat on the speaker!
